I stepped out of the kitchen this week and ended up in sunny California with a few of my favorite beauties. The rays were warm and the life was chill. Why can’t every day be like a vacation in LA?
All four of us were first-timers, so naturally we became typical tourists. Hiked up through some of the most amazing homes I’ll ever see and ended up pretty close to this — The Sign, check.
Santa Monica beach fixed us with blue skies and warm sand.

**And for those wondering, this^ image is what I’d like to call a ‘Betharby.’ It’s a very Bethany Hughes esque image and if you look closely there’s a Bryon Darby in there too**
We caught Venice beach right before sundown. We couldn’t get enough of the skate park.
Palm trees. Ocean. Skate bowl.
Travis checked something off his bucket list —
Paige snagged a local who shared his board, showed us around, and put a smile on all of our faces for the evening.
Kansas kids can use the subway too — we got the hang of things and it was fun. Next time we’ll be pros.
He likes me, I swear! ;)
I was probably looking forward to Chinatown the most. Although LA’s Chinatown gets bad rep and from what I hear it took over what used to be Little Italy (……), I was really excited to have my first Chinatown experience.
I got a jade buddha necklace on a red string and a sweet lucky cat keychain. It was a success, no doubt!
Check. Animal style — CHECK.
California fresh.
We ended our trip with the Griffith Observatory. City lights. Telescopes.
Don’t get too comfy without us, LA. We’ll be back!
