Easter Nests

Sarah Terranova Photography, Cucina & Camera

How is it Easter already?? Time is flying by this year. I haven’t even dyed any eggs yet! Hopefully I’ll have some time to squeeze in a fun easter egg sesh before it’s too late. If nothing else though, I simply cannot let this time of year come and go without eating copious amounts of deviled eggs. (hint, hint…mom) Crossing my fingers. ;)

Gourmet Glamping

Sarah Terranova Photography, Lauren Hedenkamp, Vintage KC, The Royal Relic

Hints of spring are in the air, people (!!) and I already feel like busting out my crop tops and Birkenstocks! Okay, maybe it’s still a little too early though. I’m a total shivering wimp if it’s anything less than 70° and sunny outside. But anywayyyy, you know what it’s definitely NOT too early for?! Planning your spring glamping menu. Yup! And that’s exactly what my good friend Lauren and I have been working on. We recently brushed off the winter leaves from her sweet little vintage glamper and started brainstorming… with wine of course. Camping with friends doesn’t have to mean eating foil pack hamburger and Fritos over a fire. Although there’s definitely nothing wrong with throwback girl scout campfire food just for the record! But why not elevate the experience a bit, something delicious but still simple. We are starting to get used to this whole adulting thing after all.

Gatherings Like These & Fig Tagine

Guys, I really like food! And not just because I love eating it (although i really do like that part). But because food has this amazingly powerful way of bringing people together. In our busy lives it is, unfortunately, not something we get to experience all the time but nonetheless it should be something we try to do more often. Nothing fancy or anything. Just a simple gathering over yummy stuff! It’s rewarding and nourishing for our bodies and minds.

<3 that's amore <3

Raise your hand if you a) are a space case and forgot to make dinner reservations until it was too late, b) don’t like dealing with mushy Vday crowds, c) are looking to have your very own Lady and the Tramp moment with a special someone or d) enjoy playing with your food to prove you can spell ‘love.’ If any/all of these things apply to you on this heart-filled saturday have no fear. There’s still time to run to the grocery store and whip up this ~~lovely~~ recipe! (wink wink) Because what says amore more than big plate of spaghetti & meatballs (?!)

Veggie Tempura !!

Hey, hey! I know it’s been a minute, but please forgive me for giving my blog such inconsistent attention these days! Life has been busy (which is good) but I always wish to have more time for my beloved followers. Speaking of — I’d like to take a second to say i love you. Maybe that doesn’t mean a whole heck of a lot coming from that cucina&camera-chick-that-takes-pictures-that-make-me-hungry BUT I really do appreciate each and every one of you for checking in, following, and noticing my humble personal project. You all are what keeps me going even when life feels like I’m not in Kansas anymore (even tho I do technically live on the em-oh side now) . You are my motivation, my drive, my positive reinforcement, and my constructive criticism. Maybe the February air has me seeing more hearts than normal, but I think it’s important to share my gratitude for you and let you know : you are appreciated

Lentil Soup alla Momma

I’m bustin’ out another family recipe this week. This one is inspired by the call of cold winter evenings and cozy meals from home. My mom made this soup a lot growing up — quick, easy, and oh so comforting. I’ve never made it myself until now. When I asked my mom if she would let me in on her recipe I discovered it’s actually my grandma’s recipe (!!) For me, that makes it even more special. I think that’s what I enjoy so much about food. Besides the fact that I just really like to eat, I enjoy that it’s all been pasted down. All of our recipes and ideas about food came from someone before us — it’s like history. And most of what we learn about food comes from those that feed us — it’s like love. Food is love, ya know. ☮ ✌

Pasta & Peas

Hey, hey! Happy Fall… wait, Winter…? It’s definitely still Autumn, but these 20 something days make it feel like we’re already in the thick of Kansas City winter and let me just say — I’m not a fan. The way I see it the only reason it should ever be this cold is if snow is falling from the sky and there’s enough of it on the ground so that I can make snow angels and watch Nico hop around like a cute little brown snow bunny-dog :)
