Easter Nests

Sarah Terranova Photography, Cucina & Camera

How is it Easter already?? Time is flying by this year. I haven’t even dyed any eggs yet! Hopefully I’ll have some time to squeeze in a fun easter egg sesh before it’s too late. If nothing else though, I simply cannot let this time of year come and go without eating copious amounts of deviled eggs. (hint, hint…mom) Crossing my fingers. ;)

A Creative Convergence

When Tyler of Made in KC first approached me about being a part of a dinner event he was putting together for Kansas City creatives my first thought was (*%&$^#@!) yea, totally. i’d love to.  He and Jaclyn Joslin of Coveted Home were teaming up to put on a thank you dinner for those makers who filled  the south KC boutique and made opening their doors possible. I was totally stoked (and super nervous!). It was completely flattering to even be considered as a part of KC’s creative community. And even more than that — trusted to feed all 60+ of them!

“Angry Pasta”

A lot of people ask me what my favorite thing to cook is and sometimes my answer is “something I’ve never made before” because I love trying different recipes and just playing in the kitchen in general. It’s fun and it’s never the same thing twice! But when I’m hungry(most of the time) my answer is “pasta!” which is followed by “what kind?” So I start racking through allll the types of pastas and sauces I love to eat and my stomach starts grumbling and my mouth is watering and I just really can’t come up with an honest answer. I like them all. I like making them all and I like eating them all. I could probably eat pasta until I explode. everyday. even for breakfast.

<3 that's amore <3

Raise your hand if you a) are a space case and forgot to make dinner reservations until it was too late, b) don’t like dealing with mushy Vday crowds, c) are looking to have your very own Lady and the Tramp moment with a special someone or d) enjoy playing with your food to prove you can spell ‘love.’ If any/all of these things apply to you on this heart-filled saturday have no fear. There’s still time to run to the grocery store and whip up this ~~lovely~~ recipe! (wink wink) Because what says amore more than big plate of spaghetti & meatballs (?!)

Pasta & Peas

Hey, hey! Happy Fall… wait, Winter…? It’s definitely still Autumn, but these 20 something days make it feel like we’re already in the thick of Kansas City winter and let me just say — I’m not a fan. The way I see it the only reason it should ever be this cold is if snow is falling from the sky and there’s enough of it on the ground so that I can make snow angels and watch Nico hop around like a cute little brown snow bunny-dog :)

Holy Zucchini : Part II

Man – o – man, even after multiple meals with a side of sautéed zucchini AND last weeks episode of holy zucchini ! I still had a bunch of zucchini hangin’ out in my fridge. I was starting to feel guilt; I really didn’t want it to go bad and have to throw it away — I hate doing that! So I sorted through my resources and found this gem still in a box in the corner of our new apartment. ( I have yet to find the right place for my cookbooks ) Vegetables from an Italian Garden, Season by Season Recipes. It details multiple veggies and other things that can be grown in your garden each season and highlights an array of creative recipes using each of them. It even has a chart of when to plant and harvest them. Oh, and the photographs are wooonderful and so inspiring — whad up Steve Joyce and Andy Sewell! In my eyes there’s really nothing better than a good cookbook. ;)

~~ Frittata ~~

It was a Frittata kinda Friday this week — aka I have too many eggs that need to be used asap and I should probably clean out the fridge too

It was also my first shoot in our new digs (!!!) Travis and I are still unpacking boxes, but I had to make time for a shoot. I couldn’t wait any longer to try out my new(but really it’s old) white porcelain top table and that third floor window light <333 loving it!

I’m alway a little nervous to cook/shoot in a different space for the first time. Finding that good light and the space to work, move around, and be comfortable can be fairly uncomfortable the first few times around. I can often been found running into walls, bumping into corners, dropping important things, and talking to my dog as if he understands my current issues while shooting in a new space. Then there’s figuring out how well the stove top burners do or don’t work and how unevenly the oven cooks. My Friday Frittata encompasses all of these things, but it turned out just lovely and yummy! Good thing too cause we’ll be eating it for days! Nom! :)
